Hi all,

Is it cool to drink alcohol while on beta blockers? Nothing huge, just something like a glass or two of wine with dinner? I've been on them for a few months and have been afraid to drink any alcohol at all! Thanks for any info!

PS--I'm on 25mg Metoprolol 2x a day.

Hi!

I was on a beta blocker for a year and had an occasional drink. I would have a drink at home first to see how it effects you. I think the worst that could happen is that you will feel tired. I never drank more than a glass of wine because I didn't want I felt any more than that would make me too lethargic.

A little drinking is okay. Be extra careful if you are driving and stop (drinking) at the first sign of dizziness in any case.
But the occasional drink or two shouldn't be a problem.

Hey there!! May I ask how you like the medication? My Dr is putting me on it starting tomorrow and I am quite nervous. Any side effects? Has it helped you? What exactly are you taking it for? I have been on propranolol (another BB) but it has caused exercise induced asthma. So, I guess I need to switch. Anyway..any insight you can give I would SOOO appreciate.

With drinking on my particular BB...I HAVE noticed that I cannot have more than 1 or 2 glasses of wine. When I do I get a fast heart rate, dizzy, and VERY tired (even more so than the usual exhaustion).
