View Full Version : Shame

I had to ask a friend to take care of my boys while I go to a therapist appt. next week. My husband asked tonight who was going to watch them and when I told him his response was, "Well, does she KNOW where you are GOING?" - indicating that it's shameful. Constantly defending my right to do something positive, to take care of myself, is draining. Often I feel like my efforts are futile anyway - this makes it so much harder...

Your husband does not seem to be supportive of your recovery efforts at all-I hope that you will like your therapist, and I think group therapy and a support group would be great for you to-you need people who will be supportive.

And no, you do NOT need to tell anyone that you are in therapy if you don't want.

Wanting to improve yourself and doing something about it is AWESOME.
