I haven't been on for the board for awhile, but even though I don't have hf according to the doctors. I do think I am in stage 2 just because I tire easier than I used too. I can walk on a treadmill at 3.1mph for 25 minutes and it doesn't bother me any at all. But I don't have the energy I used to have two years ago.
My cardiologist says I have pacemaker syndrom, but my stepum is slightly enlarged. My primary wants me to have a colonoscopy. I have this gallon of liquid to take and will have to drink a lot of water. My cardiologist, primary, and the gastrologist all say I will be fine. I was concerned about holding water drinking that much water in such a short time period. I think I have to drink that stuff within two hours. Has anyone with hf ever had a colonoscopy? Thanks - Sam

hi! I had a colonoscopy AND an endoscopy ( down the throat to the esphogus and upper stomach) at the same time. It took all of 25 minutes. I didn't have even ONE PVC! Miracles upon Miracles. ( I am having literally hundreds tonight though) I requested a Cardiac Anesthesiologist to administer my meds, and ins. approved it because doc said it was medically necessary. My Gastro Dr. was fine with that. i wish iI could get every single person on this board, my entire family, EVERYONE, to get this test. It is totally painless, and hubby and I went to Denny's for a grand slam after it was done. I didn't have a problem with the "prep" you have to drink the night before, because I didn't eat that day. I mixed mine with diet sprite. Talk to your gastro doc, about your concerns with your heart and the meds they will give you. I had Verdsaid (sp??) and I think they threw some Vallium in there. I've never had Vallium before.. ?) Good Luck to you! Kat
I never had HF but I have a pacemaker. GP wants me to have an upper and lower endoscopy done asap.
I have an appointment on 27/04/06 to attend an anaesthetic review. This is an assessment by the anaesthetist. Not the Gastroenterology. Anyone knows what they want? I'm very nervous and scare. I'm not afraid of palpitations because I have it everyday and anytime. I'm afraid the pain and they make me half dead. I'm expecting they'll throw some valium on me as well. Would you get vomit or sick when you wake up from the procedure? What happen if I didn't follow the prep instruction? (I'm not prepare to drink all for my colonscopy)! Hope you all will give me some supports. Thanks
Pika.

sam,
A colonsoscopy is a walk in the park. The procedure is only embarassing and the anaesthesia is a very light dose (I noticed nothing at all and watched the whole procedure chatting with the doctor the whole time.
Your doctor is behind the times on that gallon of liquid nonsense. It's largely been superceded by the tiny bottle of concentrated magnesium citrate that, like mimi, you can mix with a bottle of Sprite.
That medeival gallon bottle is torture becasue it tastes like Death in a bottle...yecccch.
Make SURE your proctologist knows about the HF...in fact tell him the day BEFORE your test (and remind him again the day of the test) so that any necessary precautions can be taken...I really don't think too much will be necessary except to closely monitor your heartrate and BP.
