Helloagain, Thank you for all of your suggestions. I should start by explaining that I was diagnosed with diabitiesthe 1st. week of Dec. I had broken my foot and it wouldn't heal . I had been fighting that almost ayear,so my foot Dr. had tests taken, and sure enough I had diabities. I went to my Dr. and I am on oral medication now. It seems to be working well for me. I mentioned to him about my feet. He said I shouldn't have trouble yet,but they are definatly numb, burning, and itch some. If Fullscale50 reads this, yes they are worse at night. I have no visible sores and they are much smoother than they use to be. I go back to the Dr. for blood work again next week. I hope I can get him to listen to me about my feet and a few other problems I've been having. Does anyone think it would be better for me to an Endocrinoligst instead of my MD? Thanks for listening to me. I have been in alot of denial with this and this has been good for me to talk with people who have diabities also. Thanks again

Hi Dutch,
I for one would be pleased to hear of any medicine that would help. I went on a course of daily B12 infusions fo a month last year but it did not seem to help. This of course was to try to repair the nerve loss but if there was something to relieve the burning and itching I would like to know about it.
I also get intense itching on the shins which are mottled with brown patches (classic diabetes feature) and when I can't resist scratching them The skin breaks away as I had clawed them with barb wire and they bleed. Can anyone help with some recommended cream for this? I have tried a few regular moisturising creams but I have not found anything that helps.
Even after doing a strict no alcahol, eating salads only, diet and actually reducing my long term sugar count down by 3.5 points (from 10 to 6.5) my neuropathy plugged on relentlessy getting worse. It actually was only in my left leg originally thenafter about three years it spread to the toes on my right foot and then spread at an alarming rateup my right leg also.
My doctor is not able to be very encouraging because there is no known cure. She kind of coughs and looks out of the window when I ask her "what can we try next?"
However there are lots of people worse off.
I mentioned in my previous reply about also having penile neuropathy ......I will shortly post some information in this group which If it only helps even one person it will be worth it.
