Mother is 75 and has had type II diabetes for the last 10 yrs. She is having stomach pains quiet a bit anymore. They come and she will suffer for 4 or 5 days and then they are gone. They are similar in pain of gas pains, she says but very intense. Is this a typical side effect or could it something else. She also has high blood pressure (not extreme) but enought to take a pill a day.

Have you read the side affects of the medications she is taking? I know my husband was getting stomach aches on glucophage so he stopped taking it (Doc Knows!).

Some diabetics have trouble with the stomach not emptying as it should. Digestion slows up. This causes stomach pain. This would need to be reported to the doctor.

If it isn't caused by meds its probably Neuropathy.

I have the same problem. I have type one diabetes though and very painful neuropathy in the legs and arms. I hope things get better.
