Ok I was not sure exactly where to post this so I hope I will get some feedback here. :D Ever since August I have had this pain in my left calf that won’t go away, it has gotten worse because now it is my calf and my hip. I have been to the doctor a couple of times, but I was told to stretch my muscle several times a day and I was prescribed Motrin for the pain. The Motrin helps a little but not completely, but the stretching doesn’t do much. I have also been to a massage healer and she told me she thinks I tore a ligament in my calf and since it was hurting to use it I started walking improperly and developed the hip pain to go with it.

Ever since I have had this problem I can’t wear pants that are semi-tight, thongs, or socks that go above my ankle, because they seem to make it worse! Lying on the couch, sitting down, or standing still makes the pain worse too. The ONLY time I don't feel any pain is right after I get up in the morning after sleeping in bed all night... so probably about an 1 and 1/2 hour each day I have no pain. I take Alieve on a daily basis to help with the pain, and even the higher dosage still only helps a little!

I just heard someone talking about Charlie Horses waking them up at night and I am starting to wonder if that is what happened to me. Probably about 10 times a year I wake up in the middle of the night with a charley horse that hurts so bad (one/both legs). I wonder if I had one while I was sleeping and it was so bad it could have caused this (because my pain is were I usually have a Charlie horse)? The pain in my leg came from nowhere... just one day I noticed it.

Does anyone think this could have caused it and/or have any suggestions to what I should do? I am starting to feel like there is no hope left for me to have a normal pain free leg and hip again. PLEASE RESPOND!!! :(

Do you by any chance hurt in the arch and heel of your foot also? It could be plantar faciaitis. I have the same pain that you describe and it is because I am standing wrong to favor my foot. The pain is really bad once you stand up out of bed. I have pain in my thigh and which evently went to my hip. Then I was diagnosed with plantar faciaitis.

No I dont have any pain in my foot, it is all in the mid to bottom part of my calf and my hip, my thigh dosen't have pain either.

But thanks for replying Vball_#4 I appreciate it! I am really starting to thing the pain will be there for the rest of my life, which sucks because I was only 21 for a month before the pain started. :(

Hi,
Obviously I am by no means an expert, but it sounds like you MAY be having nerve pain from a herniated disc or other back issue. I had a herniated disc last year, and at first my symptoms were similar to what you are describing. If you have a herniated or bulging disc, it could be pressing on a nerve root which could be causing your leg pain. You may not necessarily have any back pain at all. You may want to visit your doctor, because if it is a disc problem, it's only going to get worse without treatment.
Just my $0.02. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info mo0622! I am going to the doctor yet again for my pain in a couple of days so I will be sure to ask if she thinks that could be my problem.
