Hello Everyone,
I was diagnosed with Genital Herpes type 2 in January 2006. It has been very depressing for me to cope with this virus. I have even considered the worst. Thank God (Because of him, I am alive) one day I was praying and decided to call a holistic doctor. I was told to take St. John's Wort. 2 tabs twice a day. She (the doctor) stated that this kills the herpes virus. She has help over 100 people with herpes.
I have about one month taking it. She gave me more supplements. Anyone interested I will let you know. I believe I am cured. do a google on herpes and st. john's wort and you will see that it is true.
Good luck!

I'm up for any recs. for holistic medicine. I take St. John's Wort a lot when I feel stressed out but haven't felt it's cured me by any means but I don't take it on a very regular basis. So you are symptom free now? I'm extremely interested in what suppliments you were given. I've been taking OOO and OLE(see my thread) for almost a month and this...I BELIEVE....has stopped my symptoms. I much prefer holistic treatment to traditional medicines.

I'd also be interested to see if it helps me. I see a naturopathic doctor, (it's only my 2nd appt.), and I haven't had the courage to tell her I have genital herpes yet. I knows it's probably very important to mention something like this to a doctor, but there is a medical resident that has sat in our appt's because she is training, and I was just too....embarassed to mention this, even though herpes is so common. I'm taking 800mg-1gram of acyclovir per day, and now it doesn't seem to be helping at all, even though it has helped me during my last OB. I suppose I can up the dosage a little bit and see if that works. It seems like the itching, stinging, tingling, and pain is getting WORSE with the acyclovir, although it seems like the white bumps may be healing, it's strange. I don't know what to think. I also take Vitamin C, Lysine, Zinc, B Vitamins, Milk Thistle with antioxidants, and use Lemon Balm and Hydrogen Peroxide.

Crying, you say that you think the St. John's Wart helped and that you believe you are cured, but did you ever get another blood test to see if you still have the virus? Do you take any prescribed medication for the virus at all?

I take supplements from natures sunshine. I buy the supplements from their website.
I take l-lysine. when i have outbreaks i take 12 caps. 6 in morning 6 at bedtime. When I dont have outbreaks I take 3-3-3.
I take st. johns wort. 2 in am and 2 in pm.
I also take VS-C. its a chinese supplement which destroy viruses in your body. i take 3 caps three times a day (3-3-3). A total of 12 caps a day.
In three months, i had gotten 10 outbreaks. I have a month already outbreak free. There was not a week when i did not get an outbreak. that is why I know that I am cured. Plus, I am religious and have prayed to God for healing. I do not need to go to a regular doctor. I continue to go to my holistic doctor. She made me do a cleansing. In natures sunshine there is one called Tao He Cleanse that I did. It has black walnut in it which helps eliminate the virus. Also when I had the sores, I would put black walnut extract on the sores. this would make the sores go away within three days.
I also take 2000 mgs of Vitamin C and 500 mgs of Zinc.
I hope this helps anyone.

Well then since you are cured, must you continue to take all the herbal supplements you are currently taking and if so, why?

I can't imagine that you are cured. If anything, I would say you are not having outbreaks. You'd have to have a blood test done to determine if you are in fact cured. Until such time as this can be confirmed, you still need to take the same precautions . . . disclosing your status to any sexual partners, etc.
Well then since you are cured, must you continue to take all the herbal supplements you are currently taking and if so, why?

CRYING! Be careful with the Zinc...this dose is too high for daily use! I think that 50mgs is a correct dose for daily use.
