Long time, no hear.
How are those horses doin'? Has the little one graduated from college? They grow up so darn quick these days.
What's the latest? :)

Hi there F4M thanks for thinking about me. I was visiting family in S. Cal for a few weeks. There I felt pretty good with some sore days. I am doing much better but still have a lot of neck and arm pain and basically I do not do anything other then lug the baby around. And now that he is scrawling I do not do that much. I dream of riding my horses and lifting weights but so far just a dream. I am supposed to start PT but I still haven't had it approved yet. I go back on the 30th for Xrays and hopefully can buy a bit more time off of work. I just cannot gear up for that yet. I know when PT starts I will be hurting and hate to sit at a desk. How are you?

I was actually wondering the same thing myself and even went through some of your older posts.....
:)
I'm seeing small improvements every day myself... I'm trying to look at it from a month to month perspective rather than a day to day...
Keep chuggin!!

It's good to hear you had a chance to spend some time with family. It's so easy to get down during recovery - there are some tough, tough times. A little support can go a long way.
Ouch - it's good to hear you're continuing to chug along. :)
As Bob aptly put it, I'm in the "hurry up and be patient" period.
I had significant improvement off the bat, but the Neurologist says there is spinal cord damage. That can take up to two years to come back, if it does. Don't know the significance, but the reflex inside the left elbow hasn't come back (Neuro didn't have any comments). I can still use the left pinky and two middle fingers but I won't be playing the piano anytime soon. I'll have scans every two years to monitor and watch the spinal cord, in particular.
Nobody seems eager to have a lengthy discussion about my "new pain" post op. I'm guessing it relates to the level below the surgically treated levels. I was initially told that I may be able to get ten years out of the levels above and below C5 - C7 after my surgery. For now, the focus is on the treated levels. Films, etc. have looked good, and I'll have the 3 month X-ray later this month. So, first things first.
Time doesn't stop for any of us, so I just keep trying to move along with it.
Feel better!

I missed everyone while I was gone......I do love the support of friends who do understand.
Ouch I caught back up a bit on how you are doing. I am going to start PT soon. My doc office finally called today (they lost my file) so maybe next week. I really want some strength back before I tackle work as I still have home after work to care for. How long have you been back at work? My fear is going back and feeling bad like you had and have to take off and be charged my sick or vacation time for a workman's comp deal. I know how that is after my first surgery in 2003 I burned more time then I should have due to that.
F4M bummer about your fingers. I just have pain in mine but can use all of them. Most of my pain is still the neck and shoulders. I mean it hurts somedays as bad as before. Plus my fingers and wrists still hurt. My doc said it will be a year to recover and he wasn't going to mention how much will recover but his PA did say that it may not all recover. I will go check out the new pain post as I have only been sporadically catching up the past few days.

I've been back at work for three weeks.
As you know, I do computer stuff.
It's been HELL on my neck muscles but ya know what, just bring ice and heat and don't stop - just keep a regiment going...
Now that I am on my third (maybe fourth?) things are .... bearable.
Matter of fact, as I type this its 1:12. I got here at the usual 7. A few weeks back, I would have been home already. So.... It certainly does get better.
Now is that the healing proccess? Is that PT? Is that heat / ice? Better attitude? Posture?
I say yes to all of the above so I would try all of the above! :)
