Hello, I FINALLY got a diagnosis after 9 months of feeling like crap and thinking I am mental!! My EBV came back possitive and my DR said I was in the "early" stage of building anti-bodies...........I thought that was nothing more than MONO and it would be gone in a month or so.......he said it could take years or may never go away as it is chronic fatigue.......PLUS my sjogren's test is possitive again.,..UGH!! SO confusing...........I have searched the web and all I find is mono.........anyone have any input on this??
Much appreciated!!

If you can, ask for your antibody titer values, and what he means by 'early' stages of building antibodies. I would guess that he means that you're still positive for the early antigen, but I think that can persist for a long time, and doesn't mean that you're necessarily in the early stages of infection. By nine months into your infection you should be postive for IgG VCA, positive for EBNA and negative on IgM VCA and either positive or negative on the early antigen.
You may very well take a long time to recover, especially if you are older, and there really is nothing you can do about it but have patience and take care of yourself. I have been feeling lousy for almost two years, and the recovery process has been a crawl, but I'm almost there. I have known others who have taken four years to comepletely recover, but everyone I have talked to who has been through this eventually made a full recovery.
