Hello everyone, had some blood work done that the Dr at a clinic ordered..he ordered a CMP,a CBC and TSH,which said on paper that it was for Polycythema and Hypothyroidism...I went to an independant lab on 4/5(it's a lot cheaper where I went)..the results were sent to the clinic, and was suppose to see the Dr that ordered it,but he was on vacation, so I got to see a Nurse Practioner..she said that my blood was thick,it showed that my Hemoglobin was 16.8..she asked if I smoke and I don't,she said you usually see that in smokers..I asked what do you do for that, she said that maybe I could go "give some blood" and that they charge for that, they would only throw the blood away, and she left it at that....I have to go back to see the Dr on June 8th to discuss My TSH and the Hemoglobin, because I have to go back to the lab for the TSH again,I had only been on the med for 1 week,(was off of the thyroid med for 3 months) when the test was done,(long story)so he should have never ordered that test because it takes at least 7 to 8 weeks to be in your system for the true dose to be given...I will talk to Dr about the "Polycythemia", which I heard isn't very high to worry about..the Dr did tell me to take an 81 mg of baby aspirin,I heard that it will thin out my blood..I am 60 yrs old, overweight, and also taking Lasix..do I have to worry about having Polycythemia, and do I actually have it?...my Hematocrit is 48.8,which I was told that it looked thatI don't drink enough water....was told everything else was fine.....any comments would be appreciated
