glynncur 04-25-2006, 06:34 PM I have heard a lot of good things about emu oil for wrinkles and such, but where does one buy emu oil?? Thanks. Sponsor tigerlillyrose 04-25-2006, 11:56 PM I think it's over-rated. I'd invest my money in more proven topical ingredience, Retin-A and vitamin C serum. And, if you can afford it, go to a dermatologist for a microdermabrasion or chemical peel. If you can't afford it (like me), do the at home versions. AND USE SUNSCREEN DAILY!!!! You will absoulutely reverse any benefits you get from topical products, and even surgical procedures by exposure to the sun. You will also continue to age if you don't use it DAILY. akazie 04-26-2006, 12:45 AM Emu oil is not over rated and there have been studies into the use of emu oil so yeah it has been proven to work. Emu Oil is highly moisturizing, a natural skin softener and has rejuvenating properties and has been shown to reduce the depth and length of fine lines & wrinkles . It is also non greasy and highly penetrating. In fact Emu Oil has demonstrated to be the fastest and most penetrating oil into the skin, making it an excellent trans-dermal carrier for any other added moisturisers or therapeutic ingredients. [removed] I would also call my local health food store to see if they carry it, if not ask them if they can order it in for you, [removed]. Emu oil has done wonders to my skin, it is by far the best topical I have used and I wouldn't even think about using something else. If the emu oil does feel greasy on your skin, you have put to much on, if this happens all you need to do is wipe the excess oil off. I have oily skin and it did make me breakout more when using the oil on my face so I changed to a emu oil moisturising cream with vitamin E and now my face is clear and I don't have to worry about breaking out nowadays(I still use the pure oil on my body), I would recommend this moisturising cream for people with acne. Also I was starting to get enlarged pores on my face (I guess it was from the oil coming out of my pores all the time) the emu oil has made my pores smaller. It also works wonders on stretch marks, mine are a lot lighter and my skin is firmer. Thank god for emu oil, that's all I can say. eklektika 04-26-2006, 12:24 PM emu and ostrich oils are both extremely effective. I actually used to sell it years ago when we had an ostrich farm the best thing about it is it's natural so people never react to it and since it's an oil it absorbs right in instead of just treating the surface which most creams do. I do know people who sell it but i don't think i'm allowed to give phone numbers on here. But if your in AB the best place to find them is at trade shows...because most people that sell it raise ostrich or emu and don't have a store....other than that i would just check online. kitkat77 04-28-2006, 10:57 AM You can buy emu oil at WalMart. It's in the pharmacy area -- not cosmetics, and it costs $17 (Canadian). I found emu oil to be fantastic for soothing the skin, especially after any type of exfoliating/dermabrasion. It does a beautiful job and does decrease wrinkles somewhat, but I too noticed enlarged pores. I found that this stuff works great on rashes of any sort and even bruises! glynncur 05-01-2006, 02:19 AM thanks for your responses. I think I am going to try some out. Lalli 05-03-2006, 06:57 PM I used it for a while a couple of years ago. It made my face really soft and made my eyelashes and the hair on my face grow....which wasn't good... After about a month and a half it just stopped working. Since then I've tried jojoba, coconut, camellia, and olive oils. Now I've completely stopped using oils and my face is so much better now, it doens't seem soggy and bloated and red. My face is no longer red. I just use camellia oil around my eyes before bed every night. 21/f MoonLight0 12-02-2006, 09:03 PM Thanks for that info. It's good to know that it makes hair grow. I was going to try emu oil, but now that I know that it makes hair grow, I definitely won't waste money on it. The last thing I want is hair growth all over. eve40 12-03-2006, 01:03 PM Moonlight, go with a nice olive oil with vit e in it, for moisturizing. Glynncur, if you need to rebuild the collegen under the skin the best thing you can do is treat yourself to a series of 3 to 5 IPL treatments. Your face will look years younger and you will notice a big improvment in thickness because you will have rebuilt the collegen structure underneath. It will help with fine lines and zap years of sun damage too. You'll need 1 booster treatment every year if you want to keep those great results. Average cost of one IPL treatment is about 300.00. MoonLight0 12-03-2006, 02:58 PM Yea, I do use jojoba daily, and occasionally olive oil also. It works so I won't bother buying emu. ICC 12-04-2006, 08:22 AM I HAVE TRIED NUMEROUS PRODUCTS AS I'VE AGED AND FIND EMU OIL PRODUCTS AND EVEN THE STRAIGHT OIL TO BE THE KINDEST AND MOST BENEFICIAL TO MY SKIN. SINCE I GET A REACTION TO MY YEARLY FLU SHOT ( I MEAN TO TELL YOU A HUGE LUMP THE SIZE OF AN ORANGE AND RED. HURTS FOR 2-3 WEEKS) THIS YEAR I RUBBED EMU OIL ON IT AND IT WAS GONE IN LESS THAN 48 HOURS. I ALSO BUY ONLINE BUT WILL TRY MY WALMART NEXT TIME. ONE OF THE WEBSITES IS OFFERING FREE SHIPPING RIGHT NOW. SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS I DIDN'T NOTICE MY CAP LOCK WAS ON UNTIL I WAS DONE. ICC:wave: Bracelet 12-04-2006, 06:53 PM My massage therapist uses Emu oil and she swears by it. It's sort of expensive (that's how you know it's the real deal), but it really does help clear up a lot of skin issues. Contrary to what someone else posted here, it is NOT overrated, it actually works. It's very good for a variety of skin problems and I personally have found benefit for myself.
