Good evening, all! I have been doing really well the last few days with pain. During the day, I take Motrin, and do well. I'm still pretty swollen, but the pain is down to a dull roar. I've been taking a percocet at bedtime only, and this is why I'm confused. Anywhere from 02:30 on, I awaken several times to go, and the lateral bone pain is slightly higher than I'm accustomed to pre-op, tolerable. The medial and anterior is really bad. It is NOT what I'm used to with the possible ligament damage, but deeper. I'm wondering if the screw goes all the way through the compartment??? Would it hurt? Worse than the "broken" bone? I wonder why it settles during the day with mild meds, and worsens in the night with stronger meds? I do sleep with it elevated, and the cast is very snug because of the swelling, perhaps the position is putting pressure on it? I've been reading a lot of posts from folks who have done ligament surgeries, and wishing I'd known this was here and educated myself before-hand. My surgeon said, "I'm not going to worry about your ligaments, you have a gunshot wound in your head (with the deformity), and until it is addressed, I don't want to worry about the splinter in your finger." Now, I am praying that I did not make a mistake in not insisting. I really don't want another one. Sorry, you all who have had multiples must think I'm a wimp, but honestly, the financial ramifications of not working and of owing the surgeon a pile of money bother me more than the idea of surgery by stages. Enough whining. Anyone have any experience with both? Or enough knowledge about the ligatures to venture a guess? The MRI showed thickening, excess fluid, possible TTS or compartment syndrome, but the pain did not correspond. Thanks!!! Kim
