(my first post)

hi everyone...

i started taking 5 mg of lexapro about 2 weeks ago. i hadn't noticed any side effects until the past few days, and i've felt incredibly itchy all over my body. i can't stop scratching! i feel like there are little mosquitos crawling on me and it's driving me insane. this is very odd because i've never been sensitive to medication or suffered side effects, so i'm wondering if anyone has ever experienced this reaction on an antidepressant?

I had the exact same problem. Everytime I tried to start it, the itching would start and I would stop taking it, thinking I was having an allergic reaction. I hated that, because lexapro really is good. My doctor said it probably would have stopped with time, but it was driving me crazy. I've heard others say it made them itch too.

I have also been on Lexapro since Feb. 12th 2006 and also had the same itching all over. I even had to borrow a back scratcher from my mother. The itching was terrible but it did stop. The problem I now have is no sexual desire what so ever. Is anyone else out there having the same problem and is there another medication that works like Lexapro? :p

Itching can always be a sign of an allergic reaction. I would think your doctor would have advised you to stop taking it to see if the itching stopped, then you would know. You certainly don't want to continue taking something if you are allergic to it.
