View Full Version : Will Ambien work if I take it once only?

I usually only get insomnia for 1 night - not several nights in a row like some people on this board. It's usually before an important day. I start thinking "I MUST get a good sleep tonight" and then of course - I can't sleep.

So, can I take Ambien or Sonata the night before an important day or are these meds only effective if you take them several nights in a row?

I have been to Doctors about this - they both told me "relax, drink some chamomille tea, etc.". But....it doesn't work. I've tried nytol, nyquil, melatonin, valerian root. Nothing works. Which is why I want to try something a little stronger.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Ambien works as soon as you take it. It lasts one night for each dosage you take. It works immediately like all sleep medications. If you only have to take it on certain nights, thats fine.
