I have been having bad problems with dryness/irritated/chapped lips almost all of my life. When I was pretty young I used to lick my lips, and I got severe sores around my mouth. I saw a doctor and he gave me a topical cream(can't remember what it was) and it got rid of the sores. But I still hadproblems with my lips. Now its almost 13 years later and I am still having problems. It's not just your run of the mill dry lips. I constantly have peeling, extremely dry and cracked lips. Nights are usually very bad, since I wake up alot of times with bleeding lips, which leads to me walking around almost everyday with scabs where it was bleeding at. I have to constantly apply a lot of blistex or chapstick to help keep them moisturized, which leads to a white film that forms around the corners of my lips. Everyday seems like its a battle for me to keep the chapping undercontrol, because the chapstick/blistex only really keeps me from licking my lips. This is a serious problem to me, because it is a HUGE drain on my social life. It's hard to pick up women with badly cracked/chapped lips with a white film around the outside of them. I am thinking of seeing a doctor for this, would it be best to see a dermatologist? And what advice can any of you give me? Help would be greatly appreciated.
