Hi guys,
I have just discovered a small reddish acne-like bump in my pubic area, luckily, safely 3-4 centimetres away from my main "tool". Bit worried about it, this is the first time I find something inordinary around that zone.
It looks and feels like an acne, only bigger, it is not as red as acne. My girlfriend reckons it could be an ingrown hair. I was gonna go down the chemist tomorrow and get some spray/ointment/whatever for ingrown hair treatment. Only, before that, I'd like to hear if anyone thinks it could be anything else?
And before anyone asks, I don't think at all it is a sexual irritation/infection. However, every two months or so, I do shave off pubic hair. Yeah, I not it's not really a macho thing to do, but hey, my girlfriend likes it, and it improves certain... activities ;) Ahem, anyway, could this give anyone any clue? Is it really most likely an ingrown hair?
If so, does anyone have any recommendations on how (and with what) to treat it? I'd rather not go to see a doctor, it could be a stupid suggestion anyway but I don't even know how serious these things are?
Google suggested various treatments that work within 24-48 hours even. Anyone knows how they work, I mean does the problem simply... go away, vanish after treatment?
Thanks for any advice,
Perc

Hi,
It might well be just a spot or an ingrown hair. If you look closely at it can you see a bit of hair there? If so, try and pluck it out with tweezers and then treat the area. Tea tree oil is a great thing to use on spots or ingrown hairs so have a go with that. I wouldnt worry about it too much for now.

Hi, I don't actually think I can see any hair under the skin... would it be visible? Maybe it is just a spot after all, it's just that I never had one anywhere near that area... :D and it's a bit larger than "usual" acne, so I suspected something else...
Thanks for the tip!

You would normally see the hair. Whenever I get an ingrown one, it kind of looks like a 'stitch' in the skin because it has started to grow out and then started growing back in again, so i usually get some tweezers to hook under the hair which will pull the one end out of the skin and then i pluck it out as normal. Just to let you know, I once got a rather large red acne lump on one of my inner thighs. It was quite big and lasted quite a while but eventually it went.
