Start out. I try to take good care of my teeth, but i sleep a LOT. I have fibromyalgia, possible CFS, Auto Immune Disorder, HypoT, Eating disordered and take lots of pills and vitamins. I brush and use that mouth wash stuff. I cant floss cuz my teeth are so close together that it takes FORCE to get between my teeth and then when the floss finally goes through i done hurt my gums bad and they are bleeding mad. Its been like this since i was a child, im 22 now. Past dentists said that if i keep brushing it would improve my gums, but all ive seen was de-provement of my teeth and gums.

I currently have medicaid... and Physicians Health Plan of Southwest Michigan. Obvioiusly the only dentil work that is covered at this time is cleanings and removal of the tooth. I dont want to go in for a cleaning and have them take x rays wich ARNT covered, and do all this stuff, i have NO idea what is covered and whats not. It HURTS. My teeth hurt. Im on 150mg Tramadol BID and its gotta be bad if i can still feel the bad pain of my teeth over my pain meds.

I dont know how to go about to get the information. Medicaid itself doesnt really seem to know what they are doing, the dental offices tell me to talk to medicaid, medicaid tells me vise versa. I'm stuck in the middle. I want my teeth to feel better. If not ill just rip them out myself, i done it before with babyteeth (greedy for money..) thing is, it'll be my whole top section that'll be gone. I'm lost and confused. This is where i'd call my mom for advice, but i normally get "your an adult now, figure it out for yourself" and i done tried already and failed her. So im asking you, if you can help me save my teeth... i understand if you gotta put me down in the process...

KittenPaws, actually medicaid covers cleaning.
I had my teeth cleaned from a dentist who accepted medicaid.
You need to call Medicaid in your state and they will give you a list of dentists in your area who accept medicaid.

No one is ever gonna put you down! Least of all me- We are here to help eachother, and that's just what we do.. Medicaide won't help with your teeth.. Try getting into the local comunity health clinic- they have low cost dental care..
It's hard being young, on your own, and you don't know what to do..
My son is the same way! Has had a tooth that has been bothering him for 4 years-! He's just scared-don't be scared of trying to take care of yourself- and thus, your family..!

Are there any dental schools in the area? I would also talk to Medicaid, get a list of local dentists and see what they have to say. Contact dental clinics in the area and see if any of them are open to low income families and individuals. Talk to your family doctor and see if there is anyone they can recommend you too. You may find online, organizations in your area that have funding available to help pay some of the dental bills for people in need. If you belong to a church, talk to them. They may be able to help and/or can refer you to a dentist.

Chances are, you will not be able to be treated properly without the use of x-rays, especially when your teeth are already sore. You will at least need an initial set taken so the dentist can evaluate your overall oral health and work-up a proper treatment plan for you.

If you have trouble using regular floss, try using dental tape. Glide makes some pretty good types of floss and dental tape that works pretty well. There are also several different floss aides on the market that can help too. Some people use water picks too to help clean their teeth.

It's important to find a floss that works for you and to get on a regular routine of brushing, flossing, and rinsing. Your teeth may be sensitive due to plaque and tartar build-up as well as the cause for tooth decay. Even if you can not find a dentist for a bit of time, at least start on a regular schedule of brushing and flossing.

I know what your going thru, Im on shared medicad, which I have to pay for the first $300,and I have county, due to my illnesses, Im on several meds. I have really bad teeth, a couple are loose in the front, I can't get help because thy wont provide dental, only for emergency extractions and fillings, but no dentures. Im in constant pain taking naproxin up to 4 times a day, cant take anything stronger as I am drug sensitive. I've inherited my dental problems from my dad, as have the rest of my siblings, our teeth just fall apart, they crumble and break off, and we have severe plaque, and bleeding gums, I know I have periodontal disease, and have no money to take care of it.I want dentures, get these things out of my mouth. I brush and floss daily. my lips are constantly chapped, they swell, my doctor gives me antibiotics about every other month. I tell the doctor that I have sinusitus to get them.I am just stuck, I can't find any place that can help me. I've tried teaching hospitals and non profit clinics. So I guess I will suffer with this for a long time.
