Has anyone one had good luck with Green Tea Capsules? I need to lose weight and my doctor recommended drinking Green Tea everyday. I'm not a big tea drinker so I purchased the caplets. Any info with people using the Green Tea capsule will be appreciated,

No matter what any one says your not going to lose weight taking Green Tea alone. Losing weight is accomplished by good eating and exercising...However that being said it can help give a boost when you exercise as they help me at the gym at 4.45 a.m. when most are asleep. Green tea is for anti aging not energy production......

Dear mamak,

While 6foot3's comment that Green Tea alone will not help you to loose any weight is absolutley correct, Green Tea supplements appear to increase your Metabolic Rate therebye helping your body burn more calories than it otherwise would.

The bigger factors are limiting caloric and fat intake along with the amount that you exercise each day.
But the Green Tea helps :) :) :)

I agree with TheHappyMan, supplements are designed to supplement, not replace diet and exercise. However, the is very creditable research on a number of different "supplements that do indeed aid in fat loss.

Supplementation with green tea extract reduced the activity of a chemical in blood vessels (VEGF). This is thought to be a promising step to defeating cancer as well as improving insulin sensitivity in lean muscles that promotes better fat loss.

An active ingredient in fish oil, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) was shown to promote fat cell apoptosis (destruction and death). This effect would help with fat loss and weight control.

The popular pro-hormone, DHEA was shown to enhance insulin function in rhesus monkeys, and this effect resulted in a reduction in body fat.

An extract from the jojoba plant (Simmondsin) was shown to reduce appetite in rodents, but this supplement also suppressed the ability to produce blood cells. This isn’t a good side effect if you’re an athlete. So it’s back to the drawing board for that one. Also yohimbine, caffeine, and blood vitamin C levels all seem to affect fat metabolism.
