So i was diagnosed with PCOS two days ago. I have thinning hair, excessive body hair, and oily skin. I originally went in because of my painful cramps, and the dr discovered PCOS. I dont have any cysts right now, just lots of follicles. Dr suggested the pill. I dont know, i would like to get on metformin in order to control the hair growth, and oily skin. However, i dont want to go on the pill again because i have had side effects on all brands. If i dont go on the pill, my chances of developing cysts are large i know. Im really confused and dont know how to proceed.

Most people with PCOS who take Metformin have been pretty happy with it. I know I have. I was on the pill for three years, and although it was effective too, it might not be for everyone. The metformin helped me alot, especially with my weight.

The pill and metformin didn't work for me. The pill just made PCOS worse for me. I don't get monthly periods and when I do get a period it can last anywhere from 12 days to 3 months and extremely heavy. If neither work for you and you do not get monthly periods, then try taking 10mg provera for 10 days and it will induce your period. Make sure you are having a period every 3 months. do not wait any longer than that, because you do not want build up. For the pain, try taking 800mg ibuprophen 3 times a day but do not exceed this in a 24 hour period. I'm not a doctor but I have had this for many years. Good Luck. :wave:
