Hi,
Anyone experiencing sinus problems with avandia?? I had been on it for about 7-8 months and had a sinus infection, treated with antibiotics X 2. Then went to alternative treatments. I am keeping the symptoms under fair control but my sinuses are still bothersom. I am not sure this is just in my head? But sinus inflamation is one of the side effects. I see my Dr in May and want to get off this drug, but don't know what else she'll try. I also take glucophage. Thanks

Why not go in to get a sinus x-ray to be sure you don't still have a sinus infection. Many people have chronic sinus infections/sinutitis and it can be difficult to get under control. Most antibiotics never took care of the problem for me so I almost always wound up going back to my doc for a Z-pack prescription which is one of the newer super power antibiotics. One thing that has kept me free from serious sinus complaint is the use of a good multivitamin and antioxidants. It has been well over a year since I have needed antibiotics for my sinuses since be faithful with the antioxidants and I used to need antibiotics 3-4 times every year for sinus problems. You may want to give this a try if you don't already use these.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies. mlgable, what antioxidents do you take? I do take a MVI and alpha lipoic acid. I do see my Dr in May so will ask about a sinus x-ray. I worry about having permanent damage. I have heard that people have trouble with actos too. I guess all the drugs have side effects, we just need to pick the ones with the least bothersome ones. I am trying to get more exercise and eat well so on day I may get off these drugs or at least one.

I take an antioxidant supplement called Cell Wise as well as try to stay on one called Provex CV. You can do a search for both of these products on the web to get any information about them.
