I have a quesiton for those of you that may know something about this.

Does the HIPA allow health, life, or any form of insurance to request the results of a medical procedure?

I can't seem to find anything concerning this act. In fact, I am not sure I have the correct letters. - sam

HIPAA Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act it protects your medical information. Because the medical ins/provider business will eventually be paperless and everything will be in somewhere in the www, the gov't felt the importance to make sure that your personal medical history stayed that way, as your personal med history. There are specific guidelines that provider's and payor's [ins companies] have to adhere to.

You can always get copies of your medical records, and that should include test results.

The HIPAA act does allow for insurers to request your health information only with a signed and dated HIPAA Authorization. For instance, if you were to go get life insurance, you would sign a HIPAA Authorization that gives permission for that specific insurance company to request and obtain your medical records from your Dr's. Hope that answers your question.
