We've heard conflicting stories on Vitamin A being good and bad for the developing fetus during pregnancy. What is the deal?

The ONLY person I would trust on that one is your doctor.

Trust the doctor or even better a qualified nutritionist - indeed!! I understand that vitamin A in beta carotene form is much safer as the body will only convert what it needs. High levels of vitamin A rich foods are definetely not recommended, which is why liver is a no no.

Theres a certain dose amount that pregnant women should take because too much Vitamin A causes birth defects. This is the reason women who take accutane are monitored because the medicine is derived from vitamin A.
