I know what you mean. I just can't sleep if I start thinking, and sometimes it could be about something that happened 10 years ago!!

From what I've read and heard most everyone has that problem, the only difference is how each of us handles it. Have you gone to a sleep disorder physician to rule out any health issues? If you are generally healthy then it is time to consider trying other things.

You have ruled out caffeine and bought a new bed. Ok. Here are a few ideas you might try.

** Exercise. 30 minutes of exercise each day can make a tremendous difference in how I sleep at night. Just remember not to do it just before bed!

** If you can't sleep. Just don't! Get up. Read. Work on a hobby. Watch tv. Anything that will take your mind off whatever you were thinking about. My daughter can start thinking at 2 in the morning and dwell on those thoughts until she falls into an exhaustive sleep at around 4 or 5. Not good when you need to get up at 6. She now gets out of bed, goes into the kitchen, makes a cup of herbal tea and reads the paper. She finds that after about 30 min. she can crawl back into bed and fall fast asleep! It really works for her. And she is a real worrywart ordinarily.

** Double check the caffeine consumption. It can hide in chocolate bars, tea, hot chocolate, cookies, anything with chocolate in it. Coke is really bad. I have also found that high sugar consumption can get my mind whirling, so you might think about curbing that if it is a problem for you.

Well. I hope something in my thread helps you out. Just remember. Do worry about not sleeping. Do something else. Sleep will come once your mind is settled! Let me know how you do.
