So 6 months ago I began taking fish oil. I was taking ALOT. 6-8 grams per day, with a combined 300mg of DHA/EPA in each capsules (6-8 capsules).

For a time this completely got rid of my fatigue and depression. I had endless energy and I felt great. But gradually over time it seemed that this began to wear off, and the symptoms I felt when I was defficient began to return....

I took my dosage down to 2-3 per day but that hasn't seemed to help.

Is it possible I just way over did it and I need to stop completely for a while and then return at a lower dosage?

I'm not an expert on Fishoil, but too much of anything is bad, maybe your body got use to it or something, maybe you should go off it for a week or two and then start taking it again at lower doses.

You should add omega 6 (flax seed oil) to the omega 3 (fish oil), it should be a 2:1 ratio e.g 1000mg of omega 3 and 500mg of omega 6. You should feel like you did before after doing this. Good luck.

Flax has a 3 to 1 ratio of Omega-3's to Omega-6's so adding Flax will supersaturate you with omega -3's although nothing wrong with that in my book. If you want a good Omega-6 then ''Evening Primrose Oil'' is the best....Flax has more omega-3 than Fish oil but it has to be converted/elongated by an enzyme (delta -6 desaturase ) to become EPA and DHA where as Fish oil is already converted...........

indeed, 10% is the max that can be converted so on the surface it appears that falx has more omega 3 but the net values of biologically active omega 3 equate to fish oil having far more. this is something that alot of people just don't seem to understand- my colleagues at work included, which never fails to annoy me when they advise falx to be as effective as fish oil.
