one time when my dd was about 2 or 3 months old, she was thrown up into the air a couple times. just playing, i dont know what its called.
but im just a little worried about shaken baby syndrome.
nothing seemed different after, i was just wondering if it could affect her long term??

If nothing seemed different your baby was probably fine. I would just keep a close watch on her. How long ago did that happen? I would just not let people throw her into the air especially since it causes you to worry about her. Plus it doesn't hurt to be cautious with your baby.

I would run it by the dr. definatley at 2-3 months old they dont really hae the best control of the nec muscles so this could be detrimental, some injuries are internal and can not be seen by the naked eye. I would totally take the baby in to be checked even if it was 3 months ago...Is there a certain thing in particular that is making you wonder about this three months later, developmentally or anything?
Good Luck

i would not worry if all is well now she is fine i would think. besides with shaken baby syndrome i am sure there is evidence of them beingvery physically unwell with symptoms of a head injury fairly soon after the injury and this is how it is identified they have been shaken. i also believe the shaking has to be fairly severe my ds is 2 month and loves gentle holding up the air and bringing back down to eye level with me again obviously not thrown.

In order for a baby to get shaken baby syndrome it has to be a force worse then dropping a baby or the baby rolling off of a bed and onto the floor. With shaken baby syndrome the babys' head is going in another direction from the body and the force is causing it snap back and forth, body and head going in opposite directions.
I know some one who has a baby with this. The babys father did it. The baby went into a coma and he came out of it but is not 100% mentally.

i feel better, because she is developing wonderfully. and there were no signs of anything bad.

I don't believe your story.
Why would any person throw a 3 month old in the air in a playful manner?

I agree with Fenn2kb. Something does not sound right. A 2-3 month old is very fragile and certainly not at the stage where you would throw them up in the air while playing. My daughter is 4 months old and I would never dream of throwing her in the air; not even just a little bit. Babies this young don't have the neck and head control for that.

If this happened 3 months ago and something is giving you reason to still worry about it then you need to get your baby to a doctor to be checked out. We're not doctors here...we can only give opinions. Seeing a doctor and getting the all-clear will put your mind at ease.

Exactly.
I could never imagine tossing my baby in the air like that.
if this was someone that said they did this to your child, then you better not take your child to see them anymore.

I tell ya, working around children that have been abused, neglected for the past 3 years, and then having my own baby 4 months ago, has really bothered me when i come across a really bad abuse case, like shaken baby syn. It just makes me sick, to know that people out there, i don't care if they are educated, uneducated, white trash hooisers, or whatever, would do that to their own tiny child. It makes me so sad.
