I have no medical conditions as far as I know and I've always been pretty healthy.

I recently moved from Hawaii (where I lived for 26 years) to London (I have been here for one year).

About two and a half weeks ago I started to notice that I was having to work harder to breathe. I feel like I can't get a whole breath most of the time (about one in five breaths feel deep enough). If I make myself yawn I can usually feel satisfied with the breath I get from that.

When I'm idle, I seem to have no problem at all, although my chest feels a bit tight and sore when I breathe deeply.

Is it possible I could have suddenly come down with asthma? Or could it be the pollution that I'm not used to (the air in hawaii is pretty clean).

I do plan on seeing a doctor, I just don't know how soon we'll be able to get an appointment.

Thanks for your help.

I've heard that London has quite a bit of smog. Is that true? You can come down with asthma. I did at 44 years of age. Mine started with symptoms like yours. I never had or have had a typical case of an asthma attack. Until you can get in to see the doctor, try drinking a cup of strong coffee when you feel like that. It works pretty much the same as an inhaler - opening up the airways.
