DS had to use a nipple shield bc he was premature and too small to latch on properly. Now he is big enough and I would like to try weaning him off of the shield and onto just my breast. Anyone out there had to use a shield and had success weaning off? Any tips?

I wish I could say yes, but I had to use one with both of my kids and was never that successful weaning them off of it. They seemed to like that rubbery feel/taste. Such a pain in the rear everytime trying to find the silly thing. Have you had a panic moment yet where you couldn't find any? DS used to walk away with them when I went to nurse my youngest. I wish you luck. I guess just keep on trying. Regardless, good for you for doing what it takes to nurse. :)

Actually, yes....I lose it all of the time just because it is clear! I sit on the bed while I am switching sides and then can't find it at all! There have been many times when I have run around the house saying "Where is my nipple!!" :)

I know!! Being clear they get lost right in front of your face. One time I actually had to run to the baby store with my baby screaming because I couldn't find any and she just wouldn't stay latched. I bought 3 more that day so that I'd always have one. What a pain. :)
