hello, it's been a while since i posted but i thought i'd give a happy update. background: i was raped about a year ago and had some symptons of herpes but had a culture and blood test done: both came up negative so i put it all in the back of my mind. i got a wonderful boyfriend a few months ago, and i was devastated when i started having what seemed to be an outbreak. i told him what had happened a year ago and how i was scared and both tests were negative, but that i wanted to get tested again. he was 100% supportive.

the bad news is, i got another blood test and this time it came back positive (um great accuracy before right). i was so worried that things would be ruined between us, but he couldn't have been more understanding. he realizes that he is at least at risk for contracting the virus and may have already gotten it, but he cares about it regardless.

i just wanted to share my happy ending with everyone. thanks for all the support (:

That's great he's supportive!!

What HSV type did you test positive for? What test did you get? Can you post your results?

That's wonderful that your BF is understanding...some people don't think of herpes as a stigma like others do. I think the better educated know it's very common. I mean, if it wasn't common as can be...we wouldn't be seeing Valtrex commercials every day a few times a day!
