View Full Version : Food stuck in healing wisdom folds requiring medical attention?

Hello.

I had two bottom wisdom teeth extracted last Tuesday. The best way to describe the site now is that there are "folds" along the backs of my two gums and then down along the outside of the teeth. These are healing okay, there is a small gap between the back teeth and the gums. However, in both of the folds there is something white stuck in the very small and healing 'hole' there. I was given a syringe and have been trying to blast that stuff out with it but it won't move. It seems to be stuck.

If it is food, do I need medical attention to have that stuff removed before it heals over?

You will start to smell a nasty smell if it's food. You can develop infection or pain. It could be a blood clot that you don't want to remove. For your protection I would call and ask your dental provider what they suggest.
