I've been on a 1200 calorie a day diet for several months. I am pretty much at my goal weight. I know this means I can add some more calories daily. However, I'd really like to just add extra calories to the weekends. I was thinking I would eat 1200 calories Sun-Thurs and then allow myself about 1500-1600 calories on Friday and Saturday. But I can't figure out if this would work or backfire.
Does anyone have any advice on this? Any input would be appreciated.

I do this to help lose weight. If I stay on the same calories everyday I seem to stall out and fell yucky. I eat more calories a weekend day and one to two times during the week.

I was just wondering what do you typically eat during the week and how long did it take you to get to your goal weight? By the way, congrats on reaching your goal weight. I don't think add a few calories would be a problem if you add in excercise.

that would be fine.....you may even want to stop looking at calories/day and look at calories/week. you should be able to increase your calories even more then that and not worry about gaining. I would go with at least 1500/day during the week and 1800 on the weekends.

Thanks, all!
Bluejbirdie--I think it would be easier if I could count calories per week. Because there are of course those random days where you end up eating more than you anticipated. I've been wanting to do calories a week, but wasn't sure when calorie counting "re-setted", if you know what I mean.
Chondas--It took me about three months to reach my goal weight. I only had about 10 pounds to lose to be in my healthy range, but my goal was 20-25 pounds. To be honest, I still don't know how many pounds I've lost because I won't get on the scale. (When I weigh myself, I get obsessed=not good.) So I just counted calories and exercised a lot. I usually eat a fiber muffin for breakfast, fruit and sometimes a Pria bar for lunch, and then I have a big satisfying dinner. I tend to eat a lot at night so I usually save more than 50% of my calories for dinner and dessert. Of course I ate a lot of veggies and protein too over the last couple of months. I know I'm at goal now because I'm wearing the same size I wore in college when I was 120 pounds, and I look good, and I feel great.
