My weigh in mornings are on Thursday's...
This week I been being good counting all my calories ..log them all down and even allowed for a couple hundred calories incase I miss count, based on 1700 calorie count daily..>thats my diet
and I been doing extra exercise walking longer faster on my treadmill, looking the other way on the bad foods ect,,ect,,my clothes seems to be fitting better,feeling better
I just knew I had lost at least a couple lbs.
nope I gain a couple lbs?? grrrr this is so upsetting to me.
what am I doing wrong?

Cmon Chevy! you should know by now that Water weight fluctuates daily and just because the scale may show more it doesnt mean that you didnt lose!

If your clothes are fitting better and looking better despite gaining weight, you should be happy. Try not to worry too much about the number on the scale. All of my female friends worry about their weight and the thing I always tell them is "No one but you has to know what your weight is. It's not like someone's going to whip out a scale and make you get on." Let's face it. Most people want to lose weight to change how they look. So if you look like you're 150 but you're really 170, does it matter?

When a man begins to exercise harder, he almost always shows a weight gain due to a quick muscle gain (alas the effect doesn't last too long and mucle gain gets harder and harder to get :D)
During the lucky window of opportunity, the scale doesn't paint the picture of increasing muscle and decreasing fat...often resulting in no total change or worse, an increase in weight.
Take it as an item of faith, at a 1700 calorie diet and good exercise levels ANY man is losing fat. It's just thermodynamics.

It might sound weird but maybe you might need to add even more calories, depending on your height, weight and age. I have been eating 2000 calories a day and it works great, I used to think I was eating 1500 but it was 3000 calories, so logging in every little detail of eat food is very important, avoid going out to dinner because you can't weight what's in there, and buy foods that show their nutricional facts, then you are ready for a diet. oh, and don't forget the scale, a good one, preferably a digital one.
If you can, get a software such as Fitness Assistant to log on every food, you will get a great idea of what you have been eating such as how many calories comes from fat, carbs and proteins.

I hope you guys are right...I'll just keep on doing what I'm doing...I feel better when I exercise more anyway.
I change a routine I had going well maybe not change it but added to it..I usally exercise on my treadmill before work earily am..and then I added at late evening for a longer time and faster pace...after I do that shower I feel much better..plan my meals for the next day or two.
why is it bad to go out to eat? once a week I go to a soup/salad bar..and usally just get veggies, theres some proteine like meats like chiliemeat/asian chicken, and a seafood meat/I eat a portion size of kidney beans for proteine/fiber green veggies ect,,,ect,,...but normally I just stay with the mixed veggies..only thing is it's hard to count calories...so I just watch my portion size.
mostly during the week I just eat breakfast wheaties cereal low fat skim milk, maybe a piece of fruit, one piece 100% wheat toast, sometimes a small bowl of oatmeal, water,.... dinner supper, bake chicken, or grilled/ unbatter fish/ turkey sandwhiches on 100% all wheat, fresh veggies, all my condiments are low fat.
my weekness is the custard style thick creamy low-fat yogurt..by yoplait..its pretty high in calories like 190 for 6 oz cup..but I add all my calories up and if I go over my 1700..I don't get the yogurt.
I was wondering if maybe I should lay off the yogurt?

Muscles weigh more then fat! Maybe ur fat are turning into muscle! and thats why u gained???!

Muscle weighs more than fat. If you are building muscle and losing fat....naturally.....you'll gain, at first.

well,
I lift weights but I don't do it to become a he man with big muscles, I'm a pretty big guy anyway without having to increase my biceps ect,,ect,, I just lift about 10- 15 minutes about 3 times a week and the weights are usally just 25 to 50 lbs nothing big, I am trying to keep my muscle mass up but not so much to be a body builder, so what you all are saying, I either have some water (fluids)retention or I'm gaining muscle?
seems to me the less fat you have on you,then the more muscle you gain?.
if you work hard at it?...but if a person gets to big in their muscle does that mean that person will have trouble loseing weight?
or does this muscle gain mean over all body gain? thus weight gain!
I hate to sound so stupid but to be honest I just don't know?

Over all muscle weighs far more than fat, however, most people have over 30% body fat....and for a person that weighs 160. that is around 45 pounds of FAT. meaning you only have 115 pounds of lean body mass. Once you build this muscle, unless you are taking TONS of protein, you aren't going to keep getting bigger, you are going to tone it. meaning once it is built you are going to start burning fat. I had my body fat analysis the other day and it really helped me out, i'd like to be at 16% body fat--low for a girl--perfect for a female athlete. guys tend to run around 10% for athletes.
I recommend having one of these test done. THEY ARE EXTREMEMLY HELPFUL. And the people that do them can also give you pointers on your diet.
Instead of eating a real high protein diet, try to incorporate more fruits, they are high in water, and the sugar they contain isn't hard for your body to break down and over all they are very easy to digest. The sugar's in them will give you energy and help boost your metabolism.
Eat small snacks all day, try not to take in over 200-300 calories per meal/snack. If you eat 6 small snacks at 300 calories a piece. that pus you at 1800 calories. Which is a good intake rate.

A pound of muscle is smaller than a pound of fat. Adversely, it would take about 1.5lbs of muscle to "look" like 1lb of fat.

I've been dieting for about 6 weeks and only weighed myself at doctors office twice now in that 6 weeks. I find it much more helpful to me mentally to NOT weigh myself especially on a home scale. If ya feel good you are successful! Keep up the good work Chevyman ... keep us posted as to how you FEEL
