I couldnt really understand your post..Ok the drs are suggesting that she needs a lung transplant correct? ok you mentioned something about the lungs shrinking.Im going to assume she has severe scarring of her lungs..Now are you saying this was caused by pneumonia or do they have a clue? Take care

Hey my friend , this message board is good but not real active , I would go to webmd.com and ask on their message boards but really this kind of question needs real doctors advice as it sounds very serious and most people who come here are people with problems not doctors. Dont get me wrong some people here can help you but if you need real fast info try elsewhere or better yet get a 2nd opinion from a doctor.

I did a google search on "eosinophilia" and found that it is a rare auto-immune disease involving the blood. Evidently we are supposed to have eosinophils in our system to help fight parasites and allergies. When we don't have those, you can have multiple allergies affecting the heart, lungs, and other organs. I didn't find anything on "plump fibrosis". Did you mean "pulmonary fibrosis", maybe? Pulmonary means anything involving the lungs. Fibrosis means "stiffening". Why don't you type in eosinophilia in your search engine of your computer and see what you find? I pray your sister all the best.

Hi, Farid..I gathered up some info on this..I hope what I gathered is correct..
The way Im understand it is, eosinophilic is an autoimmune response to allergies that is effecting the lungs and in this process it causes inflammation that leads to scarring..They treat it by using high doses of cortisone in hopes to stop the inflammation process..If scarring is too bad other option would be lung transplant..

"The eosinophilic lung diseases are a diverse group of pulmonary disorders linked by the common finding of an increase in circulating or tissue eosinophils. The term "eosinophilic lung disease" is somewhat of a misnomer since these diseases are usually characterized by mixed inflammatory changes with alveolar macrophages, lymphocytes, and neutrophils as well as eosinophils. In most cases, lung injury is the net result of all of these cells. Nevertheless, the presence of eosinophils is striking and can be of great diagnostic importance as a disease marker"

"Corticosteroids remain the mainstay of treatment for many of the eosinophilic lung diseases. The mechanism of this class of drugs is complex. Corticosteroids lead to a rapid, reversible sequestration of eosinophils within the vascular compartment and may also block production of eosinophils by the bone marrow "

My prayers are with you and your sister...I hope this information helped you some..
Take Care
