Anyone got any good ideas for fingerfoods for a 9 month old? She is still gaging some on crackers and cookies.

Gerber makes things called furit and veggie puffs. They pretty much disolve in their months. My DD loved them. She is 20 months now and is just now really starting to get teeth. For some reason she really knew how to gum her food. So she can eat and could eat almost anything and not have any problems. Gerber makes a few foods that just disolve in their months. They are more snack type foods, but good so they get use to the whole food thing. I even tried them and they really do disolve good. So that is something you may try. Kids love them. They actually don't taste all that bad at all. I hope this helps.

DD is almost 11 mos. now and has been enjoying just about anything as long as it's cut up small. Cooked mixed vegetables (frozen ones where the carrots are in little squares), cut up dry toast (no butter), cheese, meats, cheerios etc. Pieces of fruit are good too, but harder to pick up. We often just cut up whatever we are eating into really small pieces and put them on her highchair. She prefers fingerfoods to us spoon feeding her. Hope that helps!
p.s. I think this is obvious, but will put it anyways.....always supervise when giving fingerfoods, kids can have a tendancy to keep putting pieces in their mouth without chewing and swallowing what's already in there. Good luck!

I agree with the fruit and veggie puff thing. Those are my DS favorite and have been ever since he started eating finger foods. Also they are very low in calories. They have to eat 80 before they get 25 calories and that makes me feel better about feeding them to him reguarly.

The Puffs are great! Cheese, bananas, peaches, pears, berries, peeled grapes cut in half, well done potatoes, well cooked veggies, chicken or boca nuggest cut up very small. I also did meatballs and hot dogs cut up very small. Quesadillas in tiny pieces. Also nutragrain bars cut into tiny pieces. I basically gave DD anything that didn't require major chewing that could be cut into small pieces. Oh and also some pasta like rigatoni (the tube ones) cut into small pieces. Also Annie's makes a good organic white cheddar shell macaroni. Fun for them to put on the tips of their fingers to eat. Lots of it is messy, but DD loves to feed herself and always has. Good luck, have fun!

Rigatoni is a good one. I give DD lots of cereals and cereal bars, fruits cut up or from a fruit cup and steamed until very soft broccoli carrots or any other not stringy veggi& hot dogs sliced very small . I also gave her the mesh bag with all sorts of foods in them and Things that I wouldn't trust still go in there like we gave her a little piece of fresh pineapple but its hard to chew up. Also watermelon seems to give her a problem I think she sucks all juice out of it and leaves a chewy blob in her mouth.
