dunde_estah 12-07-2002, 06:31 PM Are these two exactly the same SamQKitty 12-07-2002, 10:19 PM No. Humulin refers to insulin that is made from recombinant dna. It can be Regular (short acting) or NPH (longer acting). Humalog is made somewhat differently (although I don't remember the details), and it is a very short-acting insulin. Is there a particular reason for your question? Are you on insulin yourself? [This message has been edited by SamQKitty (edited 12-07-2002).] susieq35 12-18-2002, 12:17 PM humilog is a rapid acting type of insulind it starts in about 15 minutes and works over the course of 2 hours. Humlin takes 30 minutes or more to take affect. humilog has only been around about 10 years. Humilog to me has made major improvents in my control because of its ability to act quickly. The only type of humilog is rapid acting so it will not totally take the place of N or L long acting humilin. It would have to be taken a couple of times a nit if you use L or N humlin ------------------ "Grant me the courage to change the things i can" Suzie |
