I found out yesterday after having a 3 hour Glucose Tolerance Test that I am Diabetic. I have suffered with numbness in arms, legs, hands and feet for a year now so hoepfully this is the cause and I can try to lower my numbers. Just wondering if anyone out there has had this problem and gotten better with proper care. My doctor gave me Actos 30 mg. a day to try plus I need to lose weight Has this helped anyone - any side effects from it? Thanks for your help.

I was diagnosed Type II in June of this year. Not on Actos, but Glucophage. Since then, I've lost 35 pounds, started an exercise routine, and drastically changed my diet. I feel great, my BS numbers are almost always in the normal range. So, I can tell you that making some changes and being focused on eating right has made a tremendous difference. I wasn't experiencing the numbness that you are but there were other signs....eyesight problems, drinking tons of water, lots of bathroom trips, fatigue and some weight loss as well. Good luck and keep in touch!

Avia: Was your doctor concerned with the numbness in your arms, leg, etc? That is my problem,my feet and finger tips tingle and I'm losing the sense of touch in both, that's how I found out that I have diabetes(type 2). After many trips to Specialists as well as Mayo Clinic, I was diagnosed as having Periphal Neuropathy, and I was assured that it would not cripple me to the point of needing a wheelchair, however they admit that they do not know much about P.N. which didn't give me much comfort, but at least I know my problem. I pray that I didn't frighten you, but I am trying to help you eliminate some trips to various doctors. Much luck to you!!!
