Aprilolaw 01-13-2003, 12:48 AM Help please. My first time here. Do you have car insurance? Do you report your diabetic condition? I'm a parent who has carried my child to now, but she is an adult. What to do??? Marie55 01-13-2003, 07:20 PM No, I do not inform the insurance company of the fact that I am diabetic. It is none of their business. In fact that is a good way to get your insurance cancelled. Many people have diseases worse than having diabetes and I doubt they inform their insurance company. There is no need to advertise our disease, it becomes a stigma. It is good to let your close friends, coworkers, & family know but stop there. In case you have problems those close to you will know what to do. Marie Aprilolaw 01-13-2003, 08:25 PM Thx for reply! I guess she let her out of state ins. lapse and didn't renew. So she is up a creek; but getting it figured out. We are just finding out there is so much more to deal with w/this disease! When she took out her car loan, she innocently checked a question asking about her health condition...the loan officer handed her a clean app and told her to leave it off. She doesn't even have health benefits. She's educated, bright, and has had some interesting jobs but is trying hard to get one w. benefits. |
