What type of blood test did you have? Diabetes can often be diagnosed if a simple fasting blood glucose test comes back at 126+ twice. Or, you can be given a 3-hour glucose tolerance test. There's also a test called an HbA1c, which is indicative of how your blood glucose has been over an 8-12 week period, but I haven't heard of it being used as a diagnostic tool yet.

It's also possible to develop neuropathy without having diabetes. Your symptoms sound very much like peripheral neuropathy (which usually affects the feet, legs, hands or arms). Did it come on suddenly, or has it gradually been getting worse? Sometimes getting a diagnosis can be difficult, but your doctor should run tests to determine what this is.
