i dont know much about studdering, but this is what i rember from reading some medical article
1.studdering is often the side effect of other disordes (commonly, social anxity)
2.studdering is caused by tighting jaw mucles, try to fous on relaxing them
3. if its jst certian word, learn to avoid/replace them or practic saying them repetedly.

im sure theres pleant of websites out there with more helpful info than that though

Hi Gitano....I do not stutter (at least for the most part! LOL) but I do have a couple friends who do and have worked with people who do. For some, this will not stop and the best way to deal with it is to find a way to laugh at it...there is a country singer (I can't remember his name) that stuttered quite badly, but could sing with out a problem.

It was funny because he was in a hotel one night, someone was breaking in and his roommate was asleep. He couldn't get the words out with out stuttering, so he sang, "someone's breaking in through the window" and said that it was the only way he could get the message through to his friend. He was laughing about it because he said that it was hard to take seriously because he was singing it...but hey, whatever works.

I know that there are certain types of therapies that you can do to help decrease or end it, but I am not sure of what they are. If you do a search on therapies for stuttering, I'm sure you'll find a ton of information on the subject.

I wish you well. I don't personally think it's an impediment (because I find peoples quirks what makes life interesting) but then again, I don't have to live with it. My husband would probably shoot me....as much as I talk, it probably wouldn't deter me though!

I will try to do some looking in the next few days and see what I find, I'll also ask my friends to see what they have done, tried and what they felt helped vs. didn't help. I do know that stress makes it worse.

Good luck.

They now do Botox injections in the larynx for stuttering, that is associated with blocking, or laryngeal lockup.

A medication for anxiety will calm your nerves. Give it a try. Good luck.
