I've had a few incidnets of low blood sugar lately(one involving a painful fall) so my doc is taking away my lunchtime Glucophage. Now, what should my blood sugar run an hour or so after lunch without my meds (like a normal person)? I just checked it and it's 145....this is with no meds since 9:00 this morning (500 mg glucophage at that time) and about 1.5 hours since my lunchtime meal. Is it too high?

Lady^,
check it also at 2 hours and at 3 hours. The suggested goals for diabetics for excellent control are as follows:

80-120 prior to meals
80-180 1 hour after a meal (suprisingly broad range)
80-140 2 hours after a meal

so it sounds like your 145 is right on target, but I would check it at 2 hours just to be sure it doesn't go too high then.

Ruth
