Hi my name is Melanie and I just found this board. I am 27 years old and have been type 1 diabetic for 24years. I went on the Insulin pump about 7years ago. I love it and it has helped me with my A1C's. I don't have any major complicaitons from diabetes but I always worry that they will soon come. I don't drink but I do smoke and I am trying very hard to quit and I am also getting ready to start trying to get pregnant. Anyone on this board with type one diabetes have any suggestions on being pregnant.

my name is stacey. i am 37 yrs. old. i have been diabetic for 32 yrs. i have 4 kids. my advice is have your blood sugar well under control. i had 4 c- sections. my first 2 kids weighted 10 lbs.+. my other 2 were normal weight. my sugar was under better control. i also had to watch my blood pressure. towards the end i was on bed rest. but i worked full time with all 4, for 8 months.
find a good dr. one you trust and are comfortable with. i went to a high risk clinic. which is norm. for diabetics. i wish you good luck. it will some of the best time in your life. if you want someone to talk to any time feel free. my e-mail is slscooks@yahoo.com
