I was taking 1500 mg. (500 3x a day) for the past year and I did really well on it. I lost about 50 pounds (put about 5 back on over the holidays though). I've recently been having problems with my sugar going too low and one time it resulted in a nasty fall, so my doc just took me down to 500 mg 2x a day, morning and night.

I take a lot more than that and have no problems. I take 2500mg/day. As long as your kidneys and liver are good, you can take it. I have enjoyed a 30lb. weight loss in the past 6 mos. I take it for PCOS and Type II diabetes. I follow low carb eating and a lot of my troubles have lessened. One of the problems with PCOS is weight gain, insulin resistance, and the inability to lose weight. Metformin helps with that. It's worked for me and I was skeptical.
