View Full Version : lyprinol has worked for me

I have been taking Blackmores lyprinol for under 3 weeks and I am very pleased with the results so far.

For the first week and a half on lyprinol I had asthma quite often, but I stuck to it, and it has been improving every day since. It's now about 3 weeks since I initially started using lyprinol, and I can get through football training without my puffer, and I wake up in the mornings without having a shortness of breath. I haven't actually used my puffer at all for a little over a week now.

When starting on lyprinol you are supposed to take 2 capsules, 2 times daily for 8 weeks, and then you cut down the dosage, so obviously it takes a little bit of time to get into the system, which is probably why I didn't notice my asthma improving a few days into the initial stages.

Here's the good news, it's natural, apparently safer than fish oil (not that fish oil has many risks associated with it), and it works.

I no longer need to worry about using a steroid based prevantitive and I feel better knowing I am using a product which isn't harmful, plus I haven't got any mouth ulcers or cracked lips since I have been off the preventative inhaler.

I researched this on the Internet. While it looks real interesting, it sure is expensive!

Where do you by Lyprinol? Health food store? I'll try anything to get away from prescriptions!

It's in supermarkets, and health food stores in Australia.
Recently I ordered 4 packs from pharmacyonline, which is an Australian company.
The online pharmacy has lyprinol 50 capsule packs for 23.30 AUD each.

Remember that after the initial 8 weeks the recommended dosage is 1 or 2 capsule(s) per day, so it will last a lot longer after the initial 8 weeks.

Thanks, I have both asthma and arthritis, so maybe it will help both conditions. I checked with our health food store here in the US (Oklahoma) and they don't carry it but will order it for me. However, I noticed online that I can buy it 2 for 1 and get twice the dosage for $39.99 US. That sounds like a bargain to me.

yeah, definitely give it a try, but don't give up after a week or so. It is one of those things that takes a little time to work.

PLEASE BEWARE OF LYPRINOL

I am a severe asthmatic who is on a constant dose of 50mg prednisolone daily.

I too heard about the wonders of lyprinol and at my partners insistance gave it a try.

After three days I developed mucus.
After 4 days mucus was seemingly coming out of every hole in my body.
After 5 days I was in ICU and intubated.
I had an allergic reaction.

It too me approx 8 weeks to get to some sort of normal life again.

Remeber...just because it is natural, does not mean it is good for you.
Couch Grass is natural, yet I am highly allergic to it. Put it concentrated in a capsule, and I could be dead within hours.

Please, do not do what I did, take all due care even if it is natural. I was lucky,, learn from my mistake.

All the best.
Susie.

Did you ever find out what ingredient in Lyprinol that you are allergic to?

Well, I'm starting my second week. No trouble. I always eat shellfish, and I have taken fish oil for years, so I didn't think I would have any reactions. I have stopped taking my Pulmicort in the evening; only using it in the morning. I still have some mucus, and use Albuterol maybe once a day, when I start to get a little tight. But, so far I feel ok. If I can cut down on the steriods by using something natural, it's a good thing. :)

So is it safe to think that if you're not allergic to shellfish and have taken fish oil in the past, you probably won't have an adverse reaction to Lyprinol? I would like to try it for my asthma. I also have a touch of arthritis that it might help, but was a little alarmed by the one post who had to be hospitalized from taking this supplement.

That was my thinking. I've never been allergic to anything like that. Because it's so concentrated, I could see that if you were, you could have a real bad reaction. I figured it was worth a try. I stopped taking the fish oil, and substituted Lyprinol. So far, so good.

Has your asthma improved? I am really interested in cutting down my asthma medications if possible. I think my main problem is inflammation with my asthma because I don't have attacks or wheeze. Advair greatly improved my shortness of breath and helped my pulmonary function test. Buffalo Gal, what dosage do you take?

Well, I have only been on the Lyprinol a short time. I won't have the 8 wks in until August. But, I have stopped taking the Pulmicort twice a day. Now, I only take it in the morning. I still have some mucus, but I had that before. It's getting better. Maybe once a day, if I feel a bit tight, I take a puff of Albuterol. I've been doing ok with just one puff. As for the Lyprinol, I'm taking two in the morning and two in the evening. You're supposed to do that for 8 wks, and then, if you're feeling ok, cut it down to one and one. I'm not sure I'd stop the Pulmicort completely. My last attack in December, was pretty scary, but I'd like to keep the steroids down to a bare minimum. Hopefully, this will allow me to do that. I figured it was worth a try.
