Hello, I am having tests done for this. I was wondering if many people know much about it? I am 18 years old, and am around 230~240 pounds, an am almost 6 ft. tall.

Sure, I have had quite a bit of the symptoms, but couldn't it be something else?
Just last week I had a MAJOR pain on my right side. Which I had went to the hospital for, and they gave me a drug called Pepcid, which works great. I'm also increasing the fiber in my diet, with quite a bit of pastas and bread. And am also watching what I eat. I havent touched resuarant food ever since. And have been eating very low-fat foods.

So, pretty much what I'm wondering is, should I just get checked out for something else? Polyps? Hemmhroids? Just attempting to see what people that have been through this have to say.

Some more information, I do sit a lot. I'm planning on going into the Computer Programming field.

Also, I was reading on this, and they had said that these two things are possible treatments for this:

* Abdominoperineal resection
* Colon resection

And quite frankly, I'm scared to have either one done. Especially since I'm only 18. :(

Hi, I had a Meckel's diverticulum removed and a small intestine resection 18 years ago (I was 29). Interestingly enough my younger brother had one when he was 4. Several years after I had mine, our sister also had one. The medical field now knows that this is somewhat genetic, however, none of our doctors could believe that there were three of us in one family. Has there been any other history of this in your family that you know of?

My brother and sister have not had any lasting problems from their Meckel's surgery. I have not fared so well though. I have had to have several abdominal surgeries and I am left with 1/3 of my small intestine and a lot of adhesions.

If you do indeed have a Meckel's I think surgery is pretty much inevitable. I know it's scary but hang in there and ask lots of questions. Your doctors work for you so don't be afraid to voice your concerns. Take care and let me know how you make out!
