My 7 month old just got his first 2 teeth, How often are you supposed to clean them and with what, as of right now Im doing it once a day, with Gerber grins and giggles infant tooth and gum cleanser

I read somewhere as soon as the first tooth comes in to take ur baby to the dentist, when is really a good time?

I would have to say that 1-2 times a day would be plenty. You really want him to get used to brushing his teeth, so he doesnt put up a fight as he gets older. My dentist reccomends taking them at about 2, and if possible when you go in for a check up try to bring him with you so he can watch and see that it's no big ddeal to go to the dentist. Btw what ever toothpaste you are using make sure it does not have flouride in it, if it does he can swallow it and eventually if he keeps swallowing it it can cause him to get florousis which is white spots on the teeth. Hope I helped.

Hi, my DD is 9 months old and has two teeth as well. I recently asked the same question of my health visitor and she said I should try to clean her teeth twice a day. After breakfast and after her bedtime milk. She also said not to use any toothpaste at all until she's old enough to be able to spit it out. I have a baby toothbrush which I give her to hold and she puts in her mouth. Whilst she's distracted with that I actually clean her teeth and gums as best I can with a little rubber brush that fits over your finger. Once we've done that I hold her hand over the toothbrush and try to show her how to brush. It's not overly successful at the moment but hopefully she'll get the hang of it eventually! :D

I just took my 9 month old to her very 1st dentist apt. She has 2 teeth on the bottom. She had her teeth cleaned. It was so cute. Most dentist do not see children until they are 4 around here but my kids dentist see's them when their 1st tooth has come in. It is much better that way. Overall your baby will have the best teeth care if you take them right away.

My son is 6 months old and has 3 teeth on the bottom. He is cutting an upper incisor and his gums are really swollen where the front teeth are. I started cleaning his teeth with the gerber tooth and gum as well. I only started doing it recently because he now eats baby foods and cereals. He likes when I do it, but I think its more the taste of the toothpaste than anything. It is important not to let sugary foods or liquids sit on their teeth as it can cause tooth decay. As for the dentist, I really don't see the point in going so early as long as everything looks okay and you are cleaning baby's teeth. Why do they recommend taking a baby to the dentist once they cut their first tooth anyway? Doesn't make sense to me, its only one out of 24.

I think I want to start my son out early, Im not a dentist person, i hate going to the dentist, i rarely ever go, luckily I have no problems, I dont want my son to be scared of the dentist
