I'm scheduled to get my other foot done in a week and a half. I've already gotten the other foot done and this should be familiar and old school for me. But, I am nervous about recuperating. I am not nervous about the pain as much as being non-weight bearing and having difficulty moving around. Ugh! Anyone else scheduled for surgery soon?

I was scheduled for July, but I put it off.
How has your recovery been from your first foot?

Kpoe,
how long ago did you have your other foot done? I just had both done 9 days ago, and I must say, I'm alot more mobile than I thought I would be, however, after my surgery I was weight bearing on both feet. Not quite sure how it would be to not be able to bear weight.

Recovery from my first foot was frustrating. My doctor had me 4 weeks non-weight bearing and 2 weeks partial. At that time, everyone on these boards reported differences in doctor orders for recuperating. My doc seemed more conservative than most. However, all in all, I'd say it wasn't that bad and I couldn't believe I put it off for 12 years. I have a window of opportunity between jobs to get the other one done, so I just scheduled it quickly and think to myself, just get it done and overwith. I hope it's easier the 2nd time around.

My doc wouldn't let me get double bunionectomy. Do not know why. I have pretty severe ones as well as problems with 2nd and 3rd toes, so maybe my case is more complicated than others that double wasn't an option.

I have to say the first foot look great! This was done one and a half years ago. And, more importantly, no more nagging foot pain on the one that is fixed! I am pleased with the results from the first one.

That your first foot did so well is encouraging. Am glad for you that there is no nagging pain.
My doc also discouraged the double bunionectomy. I think that he just does not want me to be completely immobilized.

my doctor discouraged it too. I asked him why. He said the recovery is slower. All I know is that the recovery period for one is 6 weeks. So I figured there's no way 2 would take 12 weeks. So, at the time I scheduled each one separately. I came and read some more on these boards. Then, I decided to just take my chances and do them both. I'm really glad I did.
