I'm curious about how much formula the 8 month olds are taking now. Ds has 4 6-8 oz bottles a day. He also has two solid meals at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. We end up skipping a meal simply because he doesn't wake up till 8:30 and has a bottle first thing. There really isn't enough time than between the other meals to squish another one in. Mostly I'm curious because I feed him on a kind of "schedule" and he's never hungry. I mean he eats at those times but never cries for anything in between. Also, there have been days when the bottles have ended up quite late and he doesn't seem to care about that either. I'm thinking I could probably drop a bottle and he wouldn't even notice. How many bottles are others his age getting and do you feed on cue? How do you know if he's getting enough, or too much for that matter?

I breastfeed, but DD is feeding 7 times over the course of 24 hours with 3 solid meals. She is probably about 16 lbs by now & 8 months old. It goes like this:
4am-ish: breastfeed & back to bed
8am: breastfeed & solid meal
10:30am: breastfeed
1:00pm: breastfeed & solid meal
3:30pm: breastfeed
6pm: breastfeed & solid meal
8pm: breastfeed & bed
My very good friend has a baby that will be 8 months in about a week (formula-fed). Her baby is on almost the same schedule as my DD except her baby only gets 2 solid meals a day. My friend is being very scared about giving her baby solids for reasons she can't explain...I just think she doesn't want her baby to grow up, to be honest with you. Her baby weighs about 16-17 lbs as well. I think she is giving about 6-7 oz at a feeding.

My son is 8 months, and I formula feed...I've noticed that ever since we began feeding him baby food, he has lost interest in formula. He still eats it, bt not as much as before...he would have 8 ounces with cereal in it before bed and now he only eats 4-5 ounces without cereal.
Anyways, here is a typical day for us. Btw my son is 24 lbs, so this may or may not be typical :p
7-8am: 6 ozs of formula
10am: 4 ozs of cereal, sometimes with a bit of fruit mixed in with it
(Sometimes he may have a few ounces of formula eitehr before or after the cereal if he is in the mood. He never finishes what I give him)
12pm: 4 ozs of baby food
3pm: 5 ozs of formula
5pm: 4 ozs of baby food and 4 ozs of juice
(once again, he may or may not have some formula here.)
7pm: 4 ozs of cereal
8pm: 6ozs of formula and then bed :D
He is a big eater :D I give him his own spoon when I feed him too, and he canget the spoon into his mouth, but he has no clue how to get any food on it or how to keep it there when he does :p I hope to have him weaned of formula before one year. I think I will start him on a sippy cup in about a month too.

LexJude!!!!! Holy Moly!!! Your baby is eating like 3-4 jars of baby food (stage 2) a day!
I'm not criticizing or anything...babies have to eat...I'm just thinking I cannot imagine that much baby food in a day. My baby is on the small end (about 16 lbs). She generally eats one 4-oz jar of fruit and one 4-oz jar of veggies over the course of 1 day (plus about 3 oz of cereal). Sometimes she doesn't even finish that much.
I'll bet you have a mountain of baby food jars when it comes garbage day. lol! DH and I were just commenting the other day about all the jars in our recycle bin & I'm trying imagine that doubled.
I wish we could hold our babies side-by-side and compare them. Our babies were born around the same time. That would be a sight to see!

I KNOW! He does eat a lot :p But once again, girls generally eat less then boys and are a lot smaller, soooo....but he is a huge boy! 24 lbs and 23 inches. It would be funny to see them together! People always comment on how huge he is.
The funny thing is, is that I know alex would probably eat a bit ore each feeding, but I don't stuff him up. I mean he is already this big :p I just let him finish a stage 2 jar, and then if he cries I give him a bottle. Usually he is fine without the bottle.
Crazy how babies born the same time can have two different lifestyles :p And I bet our babies are both equally as healthy too! Funny :p
