View Full Version : Weaning Question

I weaned my son very slowly over the period of a couple months. I finally stopped completely a few weeks ago. My right boob is still sore. Not excruciating, but quite tender. I can still squeeze milk out of both sides. How long does it usually take for the milk to go away? And maybe a silly question, but what happens to the milk that is still in there?!

I was surprised to find milk in mine for months after. Don't know where it goes but I think it is gone now.

I have a question about the breasts after weaning too...

Approximately how many months after done breastfeeding until your breasts are shrunken down to the way they will be? I'm going to stop BF in a few months and looking forward to investing in some $$nicer$$ bras again. Can I go get new bras in a month or so after BF, or am I looking at a longer wait time??

I remember still being able to squeeze milk out 9 months after weaning DD, the Dr said its fine and some people apparently can express liquid naturally even without ever having been pregnant or given birth...learn something new everyday. The milk just gets absorbed by your body or dries up. I would say wait a couple months at least after weaning before getting a new bra just to be safe, longer if you plan on losing extra weight.
