Hello,

Im not totally sure I have hemmeroids but I am thinking I do because I am itchy down there and constipated often and..well the area sometimes feels swollen. Is there a store bought remedy that will just totally get rid of hemmeroids?

There's nothing out there OTC that "gets rid" of hemorrhoids, as far as I know. Stuff like preparation H soothes the tissue, makes things less painful. But it's not a cure.

The best treatment is to solve your constipation problem. Get on board with a daily bowel routine, increase your fiber & water. Metamucil-type products are good as long as you drink plenty of water. Some people also find probiotics (yogurt w/active culture or supplements) helpful. Get exercise. You want to have soft, regular, "easy" stools that don't stress your rectum. Cleanse gently w/damp tissue after each BM. Don't use dry, scratchy TP.

An old-time home remedy to help shrink hems is to sit on a damp teabag (Lipton's type, not herbal) several times per day. The tannic acid helps shrink the hems. Problem is, this isn't convenient for most people.

If all else fails, visit your doc for Rx-strength hem cream. Usually cortisone-based, and for short-term use only. But it can work wonders, as long as the basic habits (not being constipated) support healing.

Best wishes.
