can anxiety cause svt attacks? or is it the other way around. i've had 2 svt attacks where my heart went to 220 and 230. i had to go to the hosptial to get them to slow it down. and i've been to a cardiologist and he did stress test, echo, ekgs, not to mention all the ekgs at the hospital and the heart monitoring. all they say is i have svt. but for the longest i was told anxiety. i don't know if one's causing the other. but i hate this! also i have to take a beta blocker now every day.

I'm in the process of going through cardio tests i.e. nuclear stress, echo, etc.. for tachy and EKG abnormalities... I know I have had attacks like this where I think I was having more a panic attack than anything... mine were triggered by anxiety and worrying about my heart... I would have this "pop" in my head with extreme fear of dying and then my heart would race like mad and felt like it was jumping out of my chest... it had to be at least 200bpm... however, after walking around a little and deep breathing, they went away in about 2-3 mins... I've heard of others having them come out of no where... but if you are very anxious and start to panic.. that's what I'm assuming mine were... I haven't had one lately because I forced myself to confront my fear, I was constantly checking my pulse and when I would get panicky, I'd feel for it and just feel for it wrong and thought it was too low or absent... thus my fear of dying and probably a HUGE release of adrenaline...
