What happens to your bowels when you go on a liquid diet? Like if your eating regular foods, then the next day you only have liquids, then the next day liquids until you use the laxative. Does the solid food you ate stay in your system for 2 days or go through the first day you are not eating solid foods?

My doc only required a liquid diet for one full day, starting the morning of the day before the test. The solids passed during the first couple of movements after starting the laxative, then it was pretty much just liquid.

Thanks for your reply. The paperwork given to me says 2 days. I don't know why. I hope this isn't as bad as I think it's going to be.

Taape hun, 3 weeks ago I was absolutely petrified of having the scopy's done. I had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy at the same time.
It wasnt nearly as bad as I had imagined. Honestly I have had more discomfort at the dentist than during these procedures. I have a goitre in my neck and sometimes find it difficult to swallow food, so couldnt imagine trying to swallow the endoscopy. I didnt even know it had been done, no sore throat or anything. i did wake up during the colonoscopy but not because it hurt, I just lay looking at the screen for a while until they told me to go back to sleep which I did.
even the sedative they give you didnt make me feel groggy afterwards.
I know its easier said than done but you need to relax and not worry too much because you will be fine.
Thanks to midwest1, harry and andycharnell putting my mind at rest, it made it much easier to get through.
thinking of you xxxx

I hope this isn't as bad as I think it's going to be.I was remarkably surprised how easy it was, considering how awful I expected it to be.
Hope you'll report back that your experience was as easy as mine was.
